That's what we think|hope at work.  I work for a power company.  We plan to
have lots of Y2K compliant human beings in strategic locations with their
hands on manual controls that night.  We're located in the Central US time
zone.  Consensus is that we will have several hours of examples if there
are real problems.  Consensus is also that it will be mostly a non-event,
at least in North America and Europe.

Hmm, (desperately tries to remember high school geography lessons),
circumference of the earth is about 25,000 mi. or 40,000 km.  Terminator
speed would be a bit more than 1,000 mph or a bit less that 1,700 kph.
Sound reasonable?
