I would strongly advise you not to follow the Gnus or Emacs trunk if you
can't stand to lose mail.  At least keep good backups if you do.

Gnus gets synchronized into Emacs when Katsumi Yamaoka does it.  There's
no schedule but he usually does it every day or two.

I'll try to announce such changes when I'm the cause and I think Lars
and the other developer will do the same.
