And in fact I cannot reproduce the problem on my end (I tried with both imap and gmane combined groups). I know its a (very) long shot, but have you tried a make bootstrap recently? The problem you reported with package-initialize also seems hard to understand since it doesn't appear that anything affecting this has changed in git recently. I'm wondering if something somewhere has gotten out of sync, mumble, mumble. It would at least eliminate one (far-fetched) possibility. In the meantime I'll keep looking. Best, Andy -- Andrew Cohen
