I am having problems in sending emails, which when I try I get this
showing in the message buffer -

The thing that stops me sending emails seems to be the line -

│apply: Wrong type argument: arrayp, nil

The only way out that I can find is to close gnus, close emacs,
and then restart, which is not ideal. This then works for a while,
before the exact same problem reoccurs, with only the message
number changing. 

How can I break the cycle and keep sending mails as required please?

Do C-j behind 
 (setq debug-on-error t)
in *scratch* and then when the error reoccurs, add then post the stack
trace.

It might be a good idea to do this twice: first find where the failure
happens, then load that file as a .el file (to get more symbols), and
then provoke the failure again.

The second stack trace will usually be more meaningful.

Have you tried
M-x toggle-debug-on-error RET
prior to sending your email to see where it is failing?
It might also help if you gave a bit more information about your message
sendmail settings...

Since I sent the original email the problem has not recurred. I've
restarted emacs/gnus many times since then, and also rebooted, and
everything is now working okay. Thanks folks, I've made a note of
what to do if the problem recurs.
