Subject: Messages coming and going
Date: Fri, 24 Sep 2010 15:40:09 +0800	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <87eicjtwrq.fsf@ericabrahamsen.net> (raw)

This is going to be a very unhelpful bug report, but…

I've been more or less keeping up with git gnus over the past month or
so, and for the last couple of weeks I've noticed that some messages
appear and disappear from my groups. I first noticed it when, after
checking mail with 'g', messages showed up as unread that I'd very
definitely seen before. Then I realized that messages I'd seen were
'disappearing', only to return at some unspecified later date, with a
new mail check. This is all pop3 and nnml, no imap.

So far as I can tell, messages are being written to the directories with
the wrong permissions. Right now some messages are "missing", though I
can see them in the directory on the filesystem. Their permissions are
600, unlike all the others which are 755, and presumably that's what
keeps them from appearing in the group?

I can provide whatever other information is necessary, this is
yesterday's gnus and emacs "24.0.50.1". Pop3 and nnml, as I said. It
happens in multiple groups…

Thanks!

Eric
