I don't think any mail or news client uses it by default. But maybe
some users might configure it like this.

We removed `-' and `+' to avoid matches on patches [1]. I won't
object to this. What do people think?

Yes, I think it should be removed. I've also been annoyed by the false
matches from C code, and I can't remember _ever_ seeing someone use "}"
as a citation prefix character...
I think the only characters I see these days are ">", "|" and ":"...
