If it cannot, it's not gnus's fault; I believe that google doesn't support nttp access to its groups. in any case, have you checked out any of the free news servers out there? I use nntp.aioe.org which is fine for low volume contributions (I think they impose some reasonable limits). I'm offline so I cannot check to see if comp.lang.forth is there but I cannot see why it wouldn't be as many other groups in the comp.lang.* hierarchy are present.
