* gnus-cite-parse: Invalid search bound (wrong side of point)

Happens in this group after the latest git pull.  I get the following
message in the minibuffer:
  gnus-cite-parse: Invalid search bound (wrong side of point)

Happens when I first display the article.  The articles are displayed,
but all syntax colouring is gone, and all headers are shown.

From the name of the function it would be tempting to think that
something has b0rken my decades old supercite config...?

On the other hand, this happens when I display the article, and
supercite shouldn't be invoked before I respond to a message...?

Verified fixed on the gnus I saw the problem on.
