Incidentally, this is one of the things I find the most annoying about
gnus secondary servers/select-methods -- it's _very_ common that the
group names are entirely disjoint (e.g. gmane always uses "gmane.") or
simple to disambiguate (I call all my mail groups "mail." and I do not
care about usenet "mail." groups -- I always want my group names to take
precedence), but still I always have to use the stupid (long) prefix for
everything except the primary method...
It would be really nice if there were a setting in gnus which would
essentially allow me to map group names _without_ a select-method prefix
to particular prefixes.
E.g. something like,
(setq gnus-select-method-mapping-alist
'(("^gmane\\." . "nntp+news.gmane.org")
("^mail\\." . "nnml")))
Is there already such a function or setting in Gnus?
[I primarily want this for interactive use -- I suppose it would make
sense to not do such mappings for group names stored in files etc.]
