Subject: newsrc in IMAP or LDAP; cache in anything

[ This is a resend, as the first time it did not get to the list. In
the meantime, I found the first one in the imap.el todo list, so
consider this request as an encouragement :) ]

The ability to store newsrc data on an IMAP server (Pine can do this
with it's config file), or maybe on an LDAP server (like Netscape
Communicator roaming profiles) in Gnus would be a nice feature; people
could have access to the same set of non-local (IMAP and NNTP) groups
sharing all the group attributes, from different hosts not sharing the
same file system (say, from work and home).

A slightly realted wishlist item: the cache mechanism should be able
to use any (suitable) backend for stroring cached articles, not only
nnml.
