broken gnus-group-jump-to-group?

broken gnus-group-jump-to-group?

Hello all,

        some annoying behavior that I've just noticed. Jumping to a
group in the group buffer when there are no unread groups hangs
Xemacs, c-g doesn't work and I have to kill the process. When there is 
an unread group everything seems to work fine, even when jumping to a
read group.

so where do i start?

Pterodactyl Gnus v0.84
XEmacs version 20.4

By upgrading to the current pgnus version?  I'm not promising
anything, but chasing bugs in old code which has been fixed already is
not going to help anybody...

Can you type M-x toggle-debug-on-error RET, then repeat the problem?
You should get a backtrace.  If it contains gibberish, have a look at
the line below the gibberish.  This gives you a function name.  Load
the *.el file where this function is defined.  Repeat.  If there's
still gibberish, repeat.  Post the resulting backtrace (with no
gibberish).

(Gibberish is usually on a line which starts with "byte-code".)

Well...I'd do this except that I'm not getting an error, it's just
hanging...

I've let it go for ten minutes or so, and it just chews up my cpu time.

Can you interrupt it with C-g?  If so, toggle-debug-on-quit for a
stacktrace.
