Do I first have to prepare an index as in a mairix query or > something? I assume that you are using the 'imap' nnir engine (C-h v nnir-search-engine). You do not need to prepare an index, you are doing a native IMAP SEARCH on your IMAP server. If you are using IMAP search, have a look in the buffer named '*imap-log*', you may find some clues there. - Vegard V -
