Hi,

I compared .el files and .texi files between the Gnus trunk and
the Emacs trunk and found two .el files in Gnus are older than
the ones in Emacs. The changes concerning them are:

2009-04-20  Stefan Monnier  <monnier@iro.umontreal.ca>

	* rfc2047.el (rfc2047-decode-region): Don't skip past `start', which
	could happen if the text is only composed of spaces and/or tabs.

2006-08-10  Romain Francoise  <romain@orebokech.com>

	* textmodes/dns-mode.el: Alias `zone-mode' to `dns-mode'.
	(dns-mode-soa-auto-increment-serial): New user option.
	(dns-mode-soa-maybe-increment-serial): New function.
	(dns-mode): Add the latter to `write-contents-functions'.

I think those changes in Emacs should be merged to No Gnus.

In addition, for the customization group for the user option
`dns-mode', `data' used in Emacs looks better than `comm' used
in Gnus.

(Emacs)
2005-05-27  Lute Kamstra  <lute@gnu.org>
[...]
	* textmodes/dns-mode.el (dns-mode):
[...]
	Specify customization group.

(No Gnus)
2005-05-17  Katsumi Yamaoka  <yamaoka@jpl.org>
[...]
	* dns-mode.el (dns-mode): Add :group.

So, it is enough to copy those two files from Emacs to No Gnus.
The diffs are as follows:

I'm hesitating to synch gnus.texi in the Gnus trunk to the one in
the Emacs trunk for the following sentences in the /Security/ node.

,----
| 1. To handle PGP and PGP/MIME messages, you have to install an
| OpenPGP implementation such as GnuPG. The Lisp interface to GnuPG
| included with Gnus is called EasyPG, but PGG (see _PGG_
| (pgg).), Mailcrypt, and gpg.el are also supported.
`----

EasyPG doesn't seem to be included with Gnus. Granted that it's
true for Emacs 23, it doesn't apply to people who use No Gnus with
Emacs 21/22 without EasyPG.

,----
| `mml1991-use'
| Symbol indicating elisp interface to OpenPGP implementation for
| PGP messages. The default is `epg', but `pgg', `mailcrypt', and
| `gpg' are also supported although deprecated.
|
| `mml2015-use'
| Symbol indicating elisp interface to OpenPGP implementation for
|      PGP/MIME messages.  The default is `epg', but `pgg', `mailcrypt',
| and `gpg' are also supported although deprecated.
`----

It might be better to say for No Gnus users as:

  The default is `epg' or `pgg', but `mailcrypt', and `gpg' are
  also supported...

WDYT?

Stop promoting PGG any longer...

How about adding the following lines instead?

  By default, Gnus uses the first available one in this order.

Agreed. Could you change those wording?

We should sync them. Only the version numbers (and @setfilename)
should differ.

"The Lisp interface to GnuPG included with Gnus is called EasyPG,
[...]" should be changed because EasyPG is not includes in Gnus.

Fine with me.

Bye, Reiner.
