Gnus doesn't remind me to add a subject anymore if I forget upon
sending. Indeed, no reminder if there is no content either.

Via email? I don't think it's done that before? The checks are
usually just done for NNTP news, if I recall correctly.

Well if it doesn't, maybe it should.

I don't think so. Sending subject-less mails is a valid thing to do.

Possibly. It would have to wait until after the feature freeze is over,
though.

But not most of the time. The perfect place for "are you sure? y/n".

One wouldn't want to appear unprofessional to a new potential date, so
this could be a lifesaver.

Pros could set a variable to turn it off, or just use echo I love you|mail sweethart

I would allow "(NO SUBJECT)" as a third option instead of just y/n.
It's fairly standard.

A common approach is to make the subject "blah blah <EOM>" which means
there's no body. So if there's a single line in the body and no
subject, we could move it into the subject using this convention.

So, with a 1-line body:

are you sure you want to send without a subject? y/n/(m)ove body to subject/(N)o but make me sound intelligent with (NO SUBJECT)

and with a multi-line body:

are you sure you want to send without a subject? y/n/(N)o but make me sound intelligent with (NO SUBJECT)

"All your dates are belong to Gnus"

FWIW, gnus master prompts me for a subject if I hit C-c C-c on a Message
buffer which has an empty Subject. I don't remember any other behaviour
from any version from gnus.org.

Don't forget that many people write mail in languages other than
english. I'd prefer a blank subject rather than "(NO SUBJECT)" or
something like it anyway.

It's a given that the string would be customizable three ways. This is
Gnus, after all :)

Yup. The idea is to be flexible and helpful. So maybe one of the
options should be "no, and never mention this again."

Yes, I meant to say that there's no real way for gnus to know whether
I'm writing in english or in french for a particular message. It's a
minor point.

Also, some SMTP servers (e.g. smtp.gmail.com) add a (no subject) by
themselves.

"are you sure? y/n" looks fine to me. Presumably, hitting C-c C-c with
no subject is either a mistake, in which case the user answers "n", gnus
jumps point to the Subject line, and the user edits it, or it's a
deliberate omission, in which case the user can answer "y". It's
bikeshedding anyway.

Yes, I agree, me too, AOL. +1. ++.

Hmmm, I now too get
"Empty header for Subject; enter value: "
so maybe it got fixed.
