And neither the regexp, nor the find-first-non-ascii-char function in this page, are able to find any non-ascii characters in the JSON file extracted from the wireshark dump: http://www.emacswiki.org/emacs/FindingNonAsciiCharacters I find no non-ascii characters in the .newsrc.eld either (neither by the regexp search, nor when running the find-first-non-ascii-char function).
