Hi,

how is the cursor position controlled and established in the summary
view? If I delete (with key `d') a message the cursor jumps sometimes
around in a very strange way. That means: it jumps to another position
in the next line. I have the impression, only if the cursor is in the 1.
position it remains there.

many thanks in advance!

By default, gnus will place the cursor after the first : in the summary
line. You can change this behaviour by modifying the format of the
summary lines:

,----[ C-h v gnus-summary-line-format RET ]
| gnus-summary-line-format is a variable defined in `gnus.el'.
|
| [...]
|
| Documentation:
| *The format specification of the lines in the summary buffer.
|
| It works along the same lines as a normal formatting string,
| with some simple extensions.
|
| [...]
|
| %* If present, indicates desired cursor position
| (instead of after first colon).
|
| [...]
|
|
| You can customize this variable.
