I don't think you know the life of the ephemeral group.  But we can
definitely make the article precious artificially by giving it a
registry mark, those are always precious.

Just call `gnus-registry-set-article-mark-internal' with the registry
mark and a list of message *numbers* (or look inside the function for
the logic that works with message IDs).
