Oh, I see. Your mail is in my ding box (ding, the mailing list), but it seems not to be on gmane.emacs.gnus.general. Seems to be a Gmane bug... With respect to your .newsrc.eld issue: Katsumi already told you how to fix it. And of course, using a snapshot version can be a bit risky at times, so you should know what you are doing. That said, emacs and gnus are usually very stable even in their development versions.
