Like Steinar says, you don't. The main attraction of IMAP is that you can access it from multiple places, and usually with multiple clients. (For me, my phone, a web interface, and Gnus. I like Gnus, but I can't always have access to it everywhere I go, so other paths might be needed.) Transform nnmail-split-fancy into whatever mail filtering language your server supports. 2. Look and see if there is Gnus support for that.
