Here is what I had to do (in my ~/.emacs): (setq gnus-kill-files-directory "~/Gnus/score/" message-auto-save-directory "~/Gnus/drafts/" nnmail-message-id-cache-file "~/Gnus/.nnmail-cache" gnus-home-directory "~/Gnus/" mail-source-directory "~/Gnus/" gnus-directory "~/Gnus/" message-directory "~/Gnus/" mailcap-download-directory "~/Gnus/") The above seems to do the trick for me running Gnus 2.8.8 so now all my Gnus-specific files live in ~/Gnus . Of course, if you want to use a different path, you should replace ~/Gnus/ with the path you want to use. Hope this helps. - Matt P.S.
