Say, can the "shr" renderer be used as a general text browser? Or only
inside gnus? If not, what a waste.
Much fresher Debian snapshots are distributed than the other leading brand.
$ apt-show-versions $@
emacs-snapshot/unstable uptodate 1:20110128-1
w3m-el-snapshot/unstable uptodate 1.4.400+0.20100725-1

No.  It's not a browser, just an HTML renderer.

It could be used as an HTML renderer in an Emacs-based browser, though.
