mm-discouraged-alternatives is nice, but what also would be nice is if
alternatives are empty (You know, empty, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PP0lwxjaOAE ,)

Well, then allow the user to have gnus "treat it like it didn't exist",
and in the buttonizing,

1.  (*) text/plain          ( ) text/html

say
1.  (*) text/plain[empty]   ( ) text/html

or even sizes
1.  (*) text/plain[0]   ( ) text/html[6910]

Wait, what if there are just some CRs and LFs there?

So you want the buttons to say how many characters there are in the
parts?  I don't think that sounds all that useful...
