It's just one obarray lookup per group extra, so it > should be no major deal. Works for me. It nuked the good entry and kept the broken one, but I guess there's no way around that... While we're on the subject of newsrc entries: I've had the following in my configuration for ages, and (if I remember correctly), it saves quite a bit of startup/save time: (setq gnus-save-newsrc-file nil gnus-read-newsrc-file nil) Maybe we should flip the defaults?
