Thanks. If you're using a recently-updated master Emacs, the
'remove-prefix key will also handle "~/.local/share/..." paths just
fine.
The problem is just that queries aren't returning anything? Can you show
an example query that returns a small number of results on the command
line, and show the results themselves? Then try the same query inside
Gnus, first with (setq gnus-search-use-parsed-queries nil), then with
(setq gnus-search-use-parse t). Let me know what, if anything, changes.
