Subject: snapshot with threads hidden
Date: Wed, 17 Dec 2008 11:56:19 +0800	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <87skon5uak.fsf@jidanni.org> (raw)

In a *Summary* buffer, hide threads, then try to make a "snapshot" of
the buffer:
T H C-x h <escape> w C-x b newbuf <return> C-y
It looks like a big mess when you yank it elsewhere.
If one s/Ctrl-m/Ctrl-j/g the threads become unhidden.

One could use
C-x r k runs the command kill-rectangle
but one cannot fit the rectangle around all the text unless the last
line is the longest. Also the dots "..." are gone.

So even mighty emacs users can't copy some ASCII they can see, and must
use .PNG or .JPG. It's like Digital Rights Management.

All one can do is use emacs -nw -f gnus and then copy with the mouse,
but that's cheating.
