I just lost all the marks on one of my main folders because my finger
slipped while hitting M-g, and I hit M-c instead. This cleared all the
marks in my group. Stupid mistake, and now it'll take me hours to
recover from it (around 15k messages).

I tried to Q quit without saving. But after re-starting gnus, I still
have no marks for that group.

Any other ways I can recover?

And... shouldn't this function ask for confirmation? It's at least as
dramatic as commands which mark all article read.

Not sure, but doesn't C-/ (gnus-undo) undo that (and most other things)?

Bye,

Sounds like me. I just hit SW in the *Group* buffer
  S w (translated from S W) runs the command gnus-group-kill-region,
thinking I was in the *Summary* buffer.

Fortunately
The killed newsgroups can be yanked by using C-y.

Oops. I've now added a y-or-n to that command.

Backup versions of .newsrc.eld should have the data, though.
