Will the nnimap work with agent? Will it be possible to improve the
offline capabilities of nnimap? Allow offline refoldering of articles?
Are there other missing offline IMAP capabilities?

One more desirable capability: article editing, and allowing it offline,
which means that the offline imap must be able to save a new version of
the message and delete and expunge the old version.

What I would use article editing for: rethreading in nnimap folders
backing mailing lists.

Well, it's possible, but that's not going to be implemented
immediately...

What is not going to be implemented immediately? Agent support? Or
improved agent support?

The agent handles the distinction between editing online and editing
offline, right? The backend just has to accept the article edit in a
standard way?

I don't know if the agent currently has any concept of editing...?

The backends where the agent makes most sense, ie. nntp and nnimap, are
currently backends that don't support article editing.

Backends that _do_ allow editing, are eg. nnml. That is: local mail
backends (or at least one of them).

Copy/move articles between nnimap groups would be very useful when
unplugged indeed. Somewhat less useful, but still rather useful, would
be creation of nnimap groups. I think this would cover all the
unplugged capabilities of Wanderlust :)

A possible alternative : You can do all this with a local dovecot and
offlineimap I think. Well, I know as I do ;)

...but not local IMAP group creation, and only using software that has some
serious performance problems for large mail stores, and has no upstream.

So, um, not exactly the pick of the bunch, although I use it for lack of a
better option.
