Subject: Not checking news at startup

Message-ID: <87u0c9oyns.fsf@no.spam.see.sig> (raw)
Hey,
I (very) often find that I need to start Gnus to read some old mail. I
don't want to wait through the NNTP and POP queries (I'm not spooling
mail with a separate program; this is currently my preference). I would
rather Gnus only check for new mail when I explicitly call
gnus-group-get-new-news. How do I prevent this from being called at
startup?
Thanks,
