I am indexing my mail directory with "notmuch new", and when I search from the command line, I can get the amount of hits that I would expect. However, the format they're in doesn't seem to be what I would expect, and I can't find the mail file from them, and neither can gnus. The command line search returns something like: notmuch search scuttle thread:00000000000208d9 Today 00:11 [5/7] Laura Conrad, Alan Zhou, Zeke Kaufman, Daniel Tate| Sandra Patterson; Board decision (attachment inbox unread) And what gnus tells me when I do "G G" is: gnus-select-newsgroup: Couldn’t request group nnir:nnir-87zgkqclfi.fsf: Search produced empty results. I would expect this to be /home/lconrad/Mail/sent/32974, but I don't see how either I or gnus could figure that out from the notmuch output. Am I running notmuch wrong? Lots of people (including people on this list) seem to be using it with gnus, so it must be possible. The format of notmuch's search results depends on the switches it is
called with. If you use "--output=files" it will give you filenames.
I'm curious how you're using notmuch from within Gnus. Both the "old"
nnir library and the "new" gnus-search library know to use the correct
--output switch. What version of Emacs/Gnus are you using?
