Perhaps the flags are set before the message is copied, or > something like that. OK, here is such a log, which I due to my ignorance of the IMAP protocol don't understand much of. I entered INBOX.mail.slime-devel, and when exiting 1 message was expired to INBOX.archive.slime-devel-2005. I then entered the archive group and the just expired message was marked as expirable. I have to recant my blaming dovecot. This was with courier-imapd. Note that this doesn't always happen, maybe 1 in 3 times the expired messages are missmarked.
