If some of them hold public mailing lists, news.gmane.org, which I
mentioned in the next paragraph, may be a solution for them.
For me, it saves me the work of creating a folder, subscribing, and
creating a filter for a mailing list. And it saves me the work of
tearing everything down when I decide to no longer subscribe to the
list.
Of course, for some lists, (eg. the DocBook lists ;-) ) I have to
subscribe to the list, and /dev/null the messages from the list, to be
allowed to post from gmane. mailman lists allows me to subscribe, but
not receive any messages.
