Lars: can you please look at gnus-sync.el and tell me if the way I set and get the marks is wrong? I don't know the backends well, so I don't want to break something unintentionally. It seems a bit hackish to be modifying the marks directly instead of through a function. I think the `gnus-use-backend-marks' variable could be employed for gnus-sync.el; it could take a function in addition to the current boolean values (the function would mean "this backend's marks will be loaded and stored through a funcall"). It would be more logical than the current setup which is regex-dependent, and would make my life easier. A value of t would mean "use your own function to load/store marks". Ted
