I mentioned this in a thread a day ago, but think it might have got
missed.
My NoGnus startup causes me machine to almost freeze for about a minute
with my hard drive going nuts - total CPU usage and massive HD activity.
I turned up gnus verbostiy and see this:-
,----
| Opening nnimap server on riley...done
| spam-split: widening the buffer (spam-use-bogofilter requires it)
| spam-split: calling the spam-check-bogofilter function

I'm reimplementing nnimap, so problems with the old one don't really
have a high priority.

I don't know what spam-split is...

OK. I'll switch back to gnus.

How can you re-implement it if you dont know what important parts do ;)
Good luck anyway.
It didnt happen before recent changes in nognus.

Richard is splitting mail based on a statistical spam backend. Those
request the whole article to run something (in this case, Bogofilter) on
it. So the splitting process is getting too many articles, spam-split
is just amplifying the problem.

Are you asking me (in which case, "agnostically, it just asks the
backend for articles") or Richard for his specific setup?

The former.
So it's a generic mail-split thing? Then it's not something I have to
worry about for nnimap...

Since its only with your recent changes that this is happening I think
its probable it must be linked.
I've had to switch back to the emacs gnus distribution as a result.
