Yes to the latter.  Not sure about the former.

In terms of your original question, I don't think org has a defined %
variable for the contents of the email.  However, you could see what %f
or %F give you and maybe build up an expression based on this.  Also
maybe consider using %(...) to retrieve the "*Article ...*" buffer.
