Not that I was ever able to get working reliably, I fear, though maybe
that has changed.

I installed, and use, leafnode to resolve that issue.  It is a nice
caching NNTP system that sits between me and GMane and does a fine job
of speeding things up.

Also, for the love of god, please don't warlord!  You signature was
insanely huge, especially the ASCII-art sword.
