Subject: NTLM, IIS and POP3 via GNUS

Hi All,
I used to be able to access my POP mail from behind the firewall here, but they
seem to have changed the configuration and now I can't. The proxy is an IIS
server, and the POP server is external to the site I am on. A telnet to the
mailer responds thus:
telnet pop.indigo.ie 110
Trying 194.125.133.230...
Connected to pop.indigo.ie.
Escape character is '^]'.
Error: Must authenticate before using this service.
Connection closed by foreign host.
I have a username and password for the proxy server, but never get prompted for
them. If I do a straight dialup, I can get POP no worries.
Internet access, which may be via the same proxy, uses the NTLM authentication
method, so I'm wondering if that's what is required here. Is there any way I
can get gnus to send the username/password for NTLM?
Thanks for you help,
Cheers,
Ian
