I understand how the nntp marks feature is useful and why it is
activated for all users by default. However, in fact, it
obviously slows down Gnus. It is not useful for _all_ users and
it will let those who don't know it simply say "No Gnus is slow".
Isn't it necessary to write clearly the case where it is useful
and the way to deactivate it? For instance, in the ``Finding
the News'' section.

In addition, I don't think the nntp marks feature is _evil_ even
though I set `nntp-marks-is-evil' as t. How about the following?

(defvoo nntp-disable-marks (if (boundp 'nntp-marks-is-evil)
			       (symbol-value 'nntp-marks-is-evil))
  "*docstring.")
