The advantage of XPM is being able to change colors easily by
the program.  However, when there are many colors, e.g., a
lifelike gnu, it is not sure.

I like it very much!
BTW, how about metallic gnu?  Here's an example:

I made it using xv and netpbm, but it took a long time.
