When Gnus displays a thread with `false root', it shows the subject
_twice_ -- once for the false root, and once for the first real message
in the thread. I honestly don't remember what 5.9 did in this case, but
I assume it must have only displayed one subject because I find myself
getting confusing and thinking there are two threads when there's really
only one...
Here's an example:
