Hi,

to access my mail at home from my laptop, I recently decided to
agentize the nnimap server pointing at my server at home.

I use imaps and don't keep the login data in ~/.authinfo for rather
obscure reasons.

        (add-to-list 'gnus-secondary-select-methods
  		   '(nnimap "server.at.home"
			    (nnimap-stream ssl)
  			    (nnimap-address "server.at.home")))

So for connecting the server, I'm required to login with user name and
password. On initial startup of Gnus, "sometimes" the login name
proposal ("rscholz", which is right) is preceded with lots of spaces
or other invisible characters which results in a failed login. Gnus
again asks me to login, the login succeeds. By looking at the server
buffer, I see this:

     {nnimap:server.at.home} (opened) (agent)
[...]
     {nnimap:server.at.home} (closed) (agent)

And I cannot access any of the nnimap groups, no matter whether
plugged or unplugged. Restarting Gnus cures the problem, unless the
login problem does not reoccur.

Disclaimer: I'm using the agent for the first time, so there may be
some misunderstandings.

Cheers, Ray
