The following message is a courtesy copy of an article
that has been posted to gnu.emacs.gnus as well.

Was this a spoof?

I hope not.

Please don't save it to .emacs nor to .gnus. Maybe .gnus.eld?

The user owns .emacs and .gnus . The user might want to know the date
of her last change to it. The user might be testing something and
want to be able to diff against .emacs~.

emacs -q and C-x n n and Y seem to write to my .emacs. I'm sure there
are other examples. Maybe it is OK since it the user is queried?
Altough the text doesn't say anything is written to .emacs.

Right, I'm just tossing around ideas.
