If you send mail to people that you know only accept mail with a X-Hashcash: of a certain bit size, you can make Gnus generate that header (see `hashcash-payment-alist'). If the community that uses Hashcash grows to include most of the Internet, spammers will have problems. But you don't have to use it if you don't want to.
