`gnus-command-method' might work.

Not really, but you can use either a dummy mailbox and put the file in
a message in it (mark it \Deleted and it won't show up in Gnus), or
store a dummy message in a standard mailbox ("INBOX" maybe) and
somehow mark it so you can find it reliably.
