I also think Gnus should include code that reverts the damage caused. One thing that annoys me is that the attribution lines are messed up. Would it make sense to remove all occurances of \+dated\+[0-9]+\.[a-z0-9]+ in the attribution line? Would there be false positives? Perhaps this causes more damage than it helps though.
