Yes, the changes are small. I was just referring to the sheer number of
back ends which makes this difficult. Besides, there are back ends which
are really difficult to grasp, like nnmaildir (at least for me).

Sounds good to me. However, before you do too much work on this, and
since this is a change in the Gnus internals, maybe someone who is more
familiar with the code base (Reiner?) can say if this is desirable to
do.

Really? I don't use these features, but was under the impression that
nnir and the agent work with nnimap.
