"!! Invalid read syntax ..." error in several files from CVS

I downloaded the latest CVS gnus around 10:40 A.M. Eastern Daylight
Time today (Sunday, July 2).  After doing so, I got the following
compile error in several files ...

   !! Invalid read syntax ((")"))

The files are ...

  gnus-agent.el
  gnus-draft.el
  gnus-mh.el
  gnus-uu.el
  gnus-vm.el
  nnagent.el
  nnsoup.el
  nnvirtual.el

In addition, I got the following variatopn on this error during the
compile of gnus-msg.el

  While compiling gnus-copy-article-buffer in file
        /opt/cvs/gnus/gnus/lisp/gnus-msg.el:
    ** reference to free variable clesendfil
    ** reference to free variable gnus-orticle-copy
    ** reference to free variable forward
    ** reference to free variable -ords:
  While compiling gnus-sost-news:
    ** unrecognised `&' keyword in arglist: &ost
  While compiling toplevel forms:
    !! Invalid read syntax ((")"))

Is there something wrong with the CVS repository today?

I redid my CVS download around 20 minutes later, and now these compile
errors are gone, and everything seems to work fine.

Must have been a transient glitch.
