0.48 doesn't encode my jpegs

Erm, the subject line says it all really. Pgnus 0.48 doesn't encode
jpeg's properly, it just inserts the file as is resulting in a rather
horrible mess

ie.

Hm... well... I edited this message and changed the C-T-E from base64
to binary, and got up a picture of a little, green, gnome in Gnus with 
TM.

Just pure luck that it survived intact through mail, tho'...

This may be a uni/multibyte problem.  0.49 might fix it.
