I'm running XEmacs 19.13 compiled without XPM support and I get the
following error with gnus:

Signalling: (void-variable xpm-color-symbols)
  gnus-group-startup-message()
  gnus(nil)
  call-interactively(gnus)
  command-execute(gnus t)
  execute-extended-command(nil)
  call-interactively(execute-extended-command)
