My workaround for this is that I *know* to which nnimap groups I split mail, which is only a few. Most are archive groups to which I only move/copy messages. So I put the groups that can possibly get new mail at a lower group level (1 or 2) and the others at (4) and set gnus-group-use-permanent-levels to 3, which is where I have my nntp groups. Now g only checks those groups at levels 1 and 2. Not as good as the optimizations Simon is talking about above, but good enough for now. -- Dave Goldberg david.goldberg6@verizon.net
