At first I thought this might be a Linux issue, but I've now experienced
this on Linux and MacOS (and, I think, on Windows): when I put my
computer to sleep (and probably anytime the connection to my IMAP server
is lost), the openssl process launched by Gnus to connect securely to
that server keeps running, with the result that Gnus' attempts to reach
the server all hang until I `C-g M-! killall openssl', after which Gnus
automatically opens a new SSL connection when needed. Is there anything
I can do to remedy this problem?

Thanks,
